Just installed a sink in the bathroom.
I have a slow drip from the P trap to the wall connection.

Looking at the picture below, can someone tell me how to connect
the J bend to the wall connection?

If you see the wall connection, the piece that connects to the J bend has a lip on the end.

Does the lip rest on the J bend or do I have to insert it into the J bend?
I have tried both ways and still leaking.

Does the the nut that tightens that connection (J bend to wall piece) take a plastic washer? Looking at the instructions on the package, it does not show a washer there.

I did put teflon tape around the threads and still nothing.
Should I try teflon paste instead?

This is not the kit I bought but it is pretty close to it:

on mine there is a washer (tapered) and the washer goes a certain way. The washer could be inside the connection and don't look like a sepearte item and could have been put in opposite way. See if there looks like a washer inside and remove it and turn it around.

My kit only came with 2 washers and both washers were for the tail pipe coming down from the sink.
Depending on the size of the tail pipe, you use the correct washer and the other washer is now trash.

I disconnected the J bend to wall connection again.
Reapplied new teflon tape on the threads but this time I also put on some teflon paste behind the lip on the wall connection.

I've been running water off and on for awhile now and no more leaks.

You must have bought the same Chinese made crappy kit from Ace. The directions aren't clear at all. I took me about 4 tries to get that thing correct--three too many. the left side of your top piece connects to the bottom right piece. Usually your going from 1.25 to 1.5. That's what the top left piece is for. It will work, be patient.
