You could always add a mattress topper.

I wonder if sheet sizes have changed slightly over the years to accommodate the very thick mattresses of today?

Yes, sheet sizes have changed to the "deep pocket" sizes.

We added a 4" memory foam topper but it did not help.

So much for that idea, thanks Squirl.

Where can you buy the old-fashioned sheets?
These new sheets I've been buying are so slippery.

Try sewing a strip of elastic to the ends & sides of the sheet, about 4" from the corners either way. It creates a new/deeper pocket for your sheets. I'm a restless sleeper and no matter what I do, I work the sheets loose every night unless I immediately do that modification when I buy new sheets. Good luck. It's not hard to do, it's just a matter of doing it.

If you bought the matress at IKEA, it is a european sized mattress a bit narrower and a bit longer than our standard. This assures that you also have to buy all of your sheets at IKEA. it is a good idea on their part.

Just something that popped in my head based on the size you mentioned, Is the lenght of the mattress 74" or is it the standard 75" or longer?

What material are they made of? 100% cotton shouldn't be slippery. Personally, I don't like the "sateen" type of cotton sheets (cotton with a shine?) as they pill easily. I have not tried the microfiber sheets yet.

So, just look for 100% cotton, and not the sateen type. I know, they'll promote it as being "luxury", but I just like good ol' basic types of sheets -- good thread count, wear well, and easy to wash.

Good luck!

Freshly washed linen sheets always feel wonderful.

After stumbling upon "microplush fleece" sheets, I will not sleep on anything else. I will never sleep on cold cotton again, not as long as I have a choice in the matter.

PacificFlights, my bed is 75" long.
South Jersey Styx, Good grief! I just looked at the package. They are "luxury" 100% polyester.
Sheesh, no wonder they are slipperry...LOL. Thanks for helping me to find out just why they are slippery.

Beachmel, LOL I love cold sheets!
You girls are the best!
