Dump the piece of crap - what you buy today is 100 times better.
Do NOT get an ice maker and be sure to buy a top freezer. Buy a GE.
Do not even think of buying a Sub Zero, ever!

OP if you do decide to get a new one you might want to do what we did. We put the old refrigerator in the garage and use it as a back-up to stock up on bargains etc.

Mine is 25 years also and still working but does make noises like poping sounds some times. It has metal shelfs.
It is a GE brand.

Until death do you part! You are extremely lucky it has lasted this long. Most don't nowadays. No need to start the cycle of needing to buy a new one every 5 - 10 years any sooner than you have to.

And please do not paint "stainless! " Green is way more fabulous imho!

They say if you put a dollar bill between the door seals and can pull it out easily the seal is no good, BTW I tried it on my new fridge it came out just as easy on my old one too
