Just curiosity, not judgement, please. I don't think one is better than the other, and I think lots of valid reasons for either choice.

Personally, I have a housecleaner every 2 weeks. I'm a single mom who works full time outside the home. Keeping up with the day to day stuff feels like plenty! I don't want to have to take a big chunk of our weekend to spend on cleaning. It's a luxury, absolutely, and there are other things that I'm willing to give up in exchange.

We also have a cleaner that comes once a month. Since it's just my husband and I, that is enough to keep everything looking good. She does the things I really hate (the floors, mostly). If the floors cleaned themselves I wouldn't have a house cleaner, because no other cleaning task bothers me as much.

Yep, every two weeks a mother daughter team are here for about five hours. It's not a large house, 1800 s.f., but it's 85 years old so has a lot of architectural details, re. more cleaning required and although we are good at day to day tidying and cleaning, as a couple of guys we just don't clean like those ladies do- scrubbing floors, inside fridge/ovens, cabinets and even windows!

We've gone back and forth between having house cleaners and then not for several years and frankly I do bond with my sweet house when cleaning it myself- feeling very lucky to own and live in it. But for now we found a great team who we trust, is affordable and allows us to just enjoy our house more. When we need to belt tighten we'll go back to cleaning it ourselves.

I agree it is a luxury but it is such a great feeling to come home to a squeaky clean house after work.

I have never had anyone cleaning my house for me. I figure if I can mess it up, I can also clean it up. Besides, I would be willing to bet no one can do a better job than I with my own place. I hear my friends gripe about what was not done or not done correctly by their cleaning ladies. I would much rather do it myself and enjoy a dinner out instead!

Nope.
I have better ways to spend my money than to have someone clean up after me.

I've had housecleaners two different times over the years, usually after the birth of my kids through their toddlerhood, but I don't now.

I have three boys and 2 dogs and could use a maid service, but I just don't like the added stress of dealing with them coming over and being in my house. So we all have to pitch in to keep it clean.

I wish there was a way to have them come over and I would not know about it. LOL

I have someone come in weekly. My husband and I work long hours and have little free time together. Spending it cleaning was awful.
