Front loaders:
1. Are more efficient
2. Clean better
3. Remove more water in the spin cycle so you spend less time/electricity drying

Consumer Reports says: Samsung WF56H9110CW washing machine

We have a samsung front load (about 8 years old now) ..

Works great, no issues so far. We leave the door open inbetween loads (in a position where its basically closed, but not pushed tight) just in case there would be a "mustiness" issue - but we've never experienced any.

Considerably less water usage than top loaders, though perhaps current top loaders are more efficient?

Also -we stacked ours (full size washer/dryer, both front load) - which was a considerable space savings

The downside-
When something does "go wrong" parts are very hard to come by. Which means you could be out of commission for an extended period of time.

Inventories are getting better though. Or so I've been told.
