We had vinyl siding put on our house back in 2003 when we finally moved in. I also had a seamless gutter installed at the same time only on the back. They used vinyl for the most part, but on the fascia boards used metal, forming the lips required to cover the wood. I just noticed that on the sides and front of the house, where there is no gutter, near the shingle edge, the top of the metal comes out and is near the shingle. On the back, where the gutter is, the metal is cut strait, along the "shingle line". Understand? Is this normal to do this. I think I may have a problem with water running ff the edge of the shingle, back behind the siding and possibly rotting the wood.
A picture or two would be helpful. The drip edge can be either off a shingle or the metal flashing underneath. Without pics, it is hard to determine if there is a real problem.

Soon as I can get back up the ladder Ill get some pics. Im really just trying to figure out if its normal to not put that extra edge near the shingles where there is a gutter, like is there around the rest of the house.
