My roof may be failing and I might need to have it replaced. It may be covered under the CertainTeed product warranty.

The CertainTeed warranty states that it is transferable "This Limited Warranty is transferable, but only by the original property owner/consumer to the first subsequent property owner"

A builder built the house, sold it to the original owner, who sold it to me. I'm wondering if the warranty covers me (as the second occupant of the building) or only the original owner (since he bought it from the builder).

I'm suspecting that I have no warranty coverage, but hoping some experienced in this will be able to answer my question.

I don't think it covers you according to the wording. Original property owner was: builder/owner, sold then to first purchaser (who you then bought it from) - how old is it anyway??

Did the original owner registered and then transfer the warranty to you? You also realize that it is your responsibility to send in sample.

Perhaps the first owner would be the first occupant-owner in this case. The builder presumably did not occupy the house.

Sounds like a question for the Company, since they will be the ones making the final decision. Or just assume you're covered until they say otherwise...

Asking folks online who have NO say in the matter will get you all sorts of opinions that mean nothing and have no bearing on your specific situation.
