Modify your request. What works is a "charger" plate that the paper plate gets placed upon.
Cheap paper plate in microwave with food.
Charger plate (often rattan or wicker) sits outside of microwave with wax paper on it.
Cheap paper plate goes on the charger.
No leak through to counter or table, the paper plate doesn't flop around in need of viagra, the wax paper doesn't suffer a meltdown in the microwave.
With a good charger, you might even get away microwaving your food on butcher paper.
In desert areas, this might be more eco-friendly than dishes and a dishwasher.

I made bacon on it this morning. There was a bit of an color on the bottom like something was cooked on them but no leaking. Carried a couple of plates of bacon around with no problem. What kind of food are you looking to put on your plates?

Anything really. Usually hot dinners, eggs, whatever. Maybe a charger or a doubling up of paper plates will solve it.
Cooking and cleaning pots and pans is enough. Plates and forks in the trash!
These are what I use. They are tough and don't leak.
I've used them for everything but steak. I think a serrated steak knife might slash through the protective top layer. I guess if you don't press too hard, they'd be fine with steak but I refuse to use paper for steak. IMO, it just "ain't" right using paper plates for steak lol
I buy the large dinner-size Chinet pack of plates from Costco. That makes it $.15 per plate. They are quite sturdy. Heavy food items like steak, corn on the cob, mac and cheese are all fine on it. It will also be sturdy enough to heat food in the microwave.
I don't use them daily, so the cost isn't a factor. See further down for the smaller, almost half the cost alternative, too.
Chinet 10 3/8" Dinner Plates, 165-count
Item 32711
Your Price $24.99
Or, you could buy the smaller ones at $.08 per plate.
In some places you better get those plastic forks soon!. I can see replacing plastic straws with paper ones (That was all we used to have) But how do you replace plastic disposable forks? This little wooden spoons we got with dixie cups as a kid?
Plastic straws have been banned on Fort Myers Beach, Florida. We went there for Mother's Day and those paper straws are ridiculous. They fall apart before your drink is even finished.

If it is just functional and doesn't have to have a design, and has the potential to be carried with one hand without folding over I have used the plain white thick ones. I forget the name. Family calls them the fuzzy plates (kind of cardboard-ish) as opposed to smooth thinner styrofoam.
I buy the super cheap thin paper plates and use a plastic paper plate holder. I use two if the cheap paper if it is something juicy. I suppose you could out was paper between the two if needed. I will not buy the foam ones even though they may work better they of course are not biodegradable.
