I'm pretty sure I have a mouse in the house. (I'm pretty sure there's only one. I've never seen or heard any evidence of having one -- and while cutting the grass I realized the door from the yard to the house was open for about an hour. ARRRGGGH!

Anyway.....
I don't have a problem with glue traps. Which I think would be my preference. But my sister says they'll chew their leg off to get off of it, and she thinks finding a struggling mouse on one would be gross.

I actually wouldn't mind that. I don't really prefer the snap traps because I'm afraid I'll snap my own fingers setting the darn thing. And oddly enough I read that the snap trap can snap so hard there'll be blood. Now that I'd rather not see. BUT if everyone one else says snap traps are the way to go, I'll go that route.

So which your experience and preference: glue trap or snap trap?

Thanks.
(I really am so afraid of mice. My sister has worked in kitchens all her life so she's taking it in stride. But I'm totally freaked out.)

A little peanut butter on a snap trap and it will be a done deal! Do not delay as mice reproduce VERY quickly. If your single mouse is "with child" you could have an infestation within a very short period of time.

#1? Black snakes
#2? Water bucket
all other suggestions are mere pretenders and also-ran's.

Victor snap traps, not the ones with a plastic food holder. We live in the country near woods and fields. Mice happen. We've never experienced "blood." We don't reuse the traps though. We toss the dead mouse and trap in the garbage and take it out immediately.

OP -- if you're afraid of mice you don't want to deal with a live mouse on a glue trap. Its also the more cruel approach. If you don't want to use something like what Ylisa7 suggested above (release them far from the house!), then go with a snap trap.

Get this kind of mousetrap. Bait with peanut butter. You can dispose of the mouse without having to touch it.
