I did it for a while, toward the end in the apartments. The old one went out, it was a counter space hog, a cockroach home, and the health reports weren't that fantastic. I was determined to go back entirely to the stove top.
One of the first things that turned me around, however, was moving into the rental house and the gas stove wasn't hooked up. No way to cook....until I remembered that microwave over the stove.
So from at least that standpoint, I learned to have multiple ways of cooking, multiple sources. Gas stoves and electric microwaves.....and cooking Yoda style if it all goes out.
No, it’s the only thing I use in the kitchen outside of the fridge / freezer. I don’t care about ovens at all even though we have double ovens. I eat frozen dinners every day unless I’m eating out, so a microwave is really all I need. Without it the kitchen would just be non-functional. Ovens are pretty pointless and slow for me.
