Yeah I don’t get it either, for me it’s the opposite - I rejected a number of new home floor plans because the master was too big. There’s only so much space in a house unless you’re talking a $5 million custom build, so that being the case I don’t want square footage wasted in the master. I don’t even sleep in there, my wife and I have different schedules, so it would be a giant waste of money for me if it was too big. Nice and spacious is fine but I draw the line at it having a partially divided sitting area and wasted space. I’m like you OP, I get up and get on with my day. I spend no time in my bedroom except to sleep, which means ideally for me (why I chose my bedroom) it has just one window. That kept my costs lower on the back end because I always install a soundproof glass (5/8” thick) window behind the existing window to block noise and then a roller shade plus blackout curtains on the window to make it as dark as possible.

Maybe. But then that would be only one person they know, not the ‘people’ they mentioned.

LOL, yes. Well, I've gotten used to posts in the House forum where people cannot imagine anyone living differently than they do.

I can imagine it but I just remind myself of other people, “It’s ok to be wrong.” Ha ha jk

We really only use our master bedroom for sleeping and for getting dressed. It's 14 x 15 and it has a king bed, two nightstands, and one large dresser armoire that my husband uses for most of his clothes. Our walk-in closet is about 6 x 9, and that's where my clothes live, along with some of hubby's and all of our shoes. And suitcases and a few other random things. We also have a fairly large master bathroom which we use for, you know, bathroom stuff.

The kids' bedrooms are 11 x 12 and that's large enough for them. They have a shared bathroom in the hallway between the two bedrooms. My daughter has her twin bed (her choice not to upgrade to a full), a large L-shaped desk, two bookshelves, and a tall bureau. My son has a large computer desk, two sets of drawers, an IKEA cubby thing, and a queen sized bed. There's room to walk in both of their rooms but not room to really add anything else. They're teens/young adults, so they're not playing with toys or anything.

My master bedroom is 12x14 and has it's own bathroom. The 2 other bedrooms are 10x10 and share a hall bath. My last house was 3 smaller bedrooms and 1 bath. These are the places I raised 2 kids and the type of place I was raised in too.

I've never had a large or fancy bedroom but I can lay on my bed and read if I want to get away from noise or people in the house.

Our master is 15 x17, enough for a large bed, two nightstands, my computer desk (where I now work from home), a large chair and a large etinger (sp?)....more than enough room for us.

Our kids' rooms are 11 x 14, nicely sized for them.

The overall theme of this house is 'just right'...not too little, not too much.
