It goes away eventually. You could hang the coat outdoors after spraying. Or try just hanging it in the sun for a few hours. Maybe that will kill the original odor. Can you dry clean it?
Febreze is not my friend, either - it aggravates my sinuses. But, if hanging the coat outside doesn't work, you have other options. Dry cleaning is one (especially if it is not a washable coat) and there are unscented odor eliminators. I saw several different ones on amazon.com.
The dryer sheet alternative: dampen a wash cloth and spritz it with something that smells nice to you. I use a citrus herbal body spray, but a light cologne would probably work. Hanging smelly clothing outside works too, unless you live in an area where someone would probably steal your clothes. :::grin:::
