I'm impressed you got almost five years out of it without any problems. Something to think about if it's going to cost 600 bucks for labor, etc you could buy a new condenser for a few hundred more. I'd like to know what kind of compressor it was going back in? Scroll is at the top of the list in that department. Good luck!

Since you haven't given any details- it would be impossible to even predict any kind of cause.
I suggest you call several HVAC contractors in your area. Most will do evaluations at no charge. Compare prices and make an educated decision.
