HELP!!

I've just noticed that the builder has made a mistake with the framing of the french door leading to the patio. In order to put up the door, the workers just filled the gaps at the side with additional studs but did not bother to cover the exterior part with plywood. All they did was to cover the studs with felt paper. They also did not put in insulation to fill up the holes from the interior.

Is it ok that they didn't cover the exterior wall? I think they're going to put up the sidings in the next few days, will we have problems in the future with such set up, stud-felt paper-sidings?

Bring this to the builders attention ASAP. Take pictures and make sure that he knows you took pictures (don't say you took pics so you have evidence in court, just bring it up). Tell him that you don't feel comfortable with this and want plywood to extend the entire way and not a small strip of plywood that is cut out. Have him replace that sheet. Even if he complains then offer to pay for the wood and he or his crew does the labor.

It appears you are saying they framed the opening too large and now have to close it in with filler studs. There is nothing wrong with that as long as the proper header is above and rests on jack studs or shoulder studs. The fact that they have not put sheeting outside might mean nothing, maybe they just have not gotten to it. They have to fill that gap for obvious reasons concerning whatever siding you choose and the brick molding around the door frame. (brick molding has nothing to do with bricks, it refers to exterior door casing)

Whatever the case, as others have said, bring it to the attention of the Superintendent. If it's a track home you will never have contact with the Builder. Only on a custom single home will you ever have any contact with the Builder of record. The job Super will be your contact in most all cases and that is going to be your contact......which you should have been introduced to already.

Don't worry, it's nothing. You may be just over anxious thinking they will leave it that way.
