Hi All,

This forum has helped me a lot in the past so coming back for more guidance and info.

Looking to buy a new construction home but looks like everything seems to be out of the beltway loop in far away land. I work in Greenspoint and don't want to drive from Katy or Sugarland everyday. I don't want a town-home also.

I'm married with a toddler and looking for a nice area/good schools. My budget is 300-350K. Suggestions/Comments?

Thanks a lot.

If you work at Greenspoint, what about Kingwood? Summerwood? There are also new construction homes in the Heights that are not townhomes.

Sugar Land and Katy are not the only nice areas around Houston. As Poltracker said, Kingwood, Atascocita, Spring, etc are great places to live. If you work in Greenspoint, and lived in say Summerwood, it would take you 15-20 minutes to get to work (with traffic). Fall Creek would be even a little closer.

^^Yes, Fallcreek, summerwood, etc. Very nice! Also, look towards new subdivisions just outside of beltway in the NW quadrant. I think they belong to cypress/cyfair school district which is good. Lots and lots of family with kids there. If you wanted to be closer you can try the Heights/GardenOaks area although you'll probably need to send kid to private school.

With all the 10,000 threads on here about The Woodlands, why wouldn't you consider living there? Also agree on Atascocita, Kingwood, et al.

Woodlands is a great place but it's to far outside the loop...My wife works close to downtown and the drive to woodlands will be far far one. Looking for something that makes drive easier to greenspoint as well as downtown (actually it's 8 miles further south of downtown)

googling for other places as suggested by other members......and it has to be a good school district.

You are not going to get new construction true single family in the Heights or Garden Oaks for $350,000.

Fall Creek...its about 9 miles or so from Greenspoint. You can make it in 10 minutes if you leave early enough...maybe even less.

Its the only "nice" area "inside the beltway. Also Canyon Gate on the opposite side of Fall Creek (technically outside the beltway, yet still touching it) is nice. Same commute time. Close to a Walmart, Summerwood HEB, and all of the amenities Humble has to offer.

best choice as far as being close....otherwise, a 20-25 minute commute sometimes 30 with traffic from Jersey Village.

Actually, there are but it just depends on what part of the Heignts. (probably not going to find that in Woodland Heights, for example.) We looked at a ton of those (both brand new and newer, 1 owner) within the last 6mos.

The commute to Greenspoint is not bad at all.

Most I ever see are more what I would call patio homes, freestanding and detached but on less than 2,500 sq ft lots. Looking on HAR I do see a couple up in Sunset Heights that are on a little over 3,000 sq ft lots that would closer fit the definition of single family so I stand corrected, just don't expect much yard!
