Why do you deal in such absolutes?

You may not like what I say, but I think it stays within the terms of the site.
Obama and the EPA have been after the O&G business a lot more since the BP spill in the Gulf it seems... I'm sure the recent Exxon pipe leak doesn't help either.

However, you could be right. But apparently it's not ok for a democrat to be involved in this type of behavior, but a republican can.

That's kind of what I meant, but not in a "sacraficing to the idols" kind of way.

I meant that this industry giant is our bread & butter, so obviously the consequence of refinery offgas is..............reduced air quality.

Oil companies were here long before anyone on this forum was born. We can't change offgas pollution to a great extent. People have the ability to decide not to live where the air may be bad for their health.

That's what I meant by my smoking comment......if you smoke to enjoy the nicotine, you put yourself at a higher risk for cancer.

If you live in Houston & enjoy the healthy/stable economy that stems from O&G.........you have to live with some of the pollution.

Nobody is forced to live in Houston, so people are welcome to stay & play or go elsewhere if it's not working for their health.

Crone: don't take this personally (I'm not hoping you leave & am sorry your having trouble with our air) but was just posing another side to the air quality/health topic.

Well, I had decided that you were not worth the trouble, Oildog. This is just too good to let go. Bloomberg just published how Exxon and Koch spent 10's of thousand writing the laws that would let them continue to pollute the world.
Your right to to a job, and plastic and gasoline, does not give anyone the right to trash G-d's earth. Lizzy I was here in 1947. Long before most of this oilfield trash. I understand cost benefit ratios and the way business keeps score, probably better than you. Love it leave it does nothing to advance conversation or the human race.

Here's a good example of why I'm in favor of having a strict control on polluters = Picher, Oklahoma.
(Funny, I had never heard of it until I found it today on the internet)

Uhh yeah, because everything that comes out from a refinery is non-toxic

Repermitting is stupid?
Why do we do "repermitting" for cars?
I already proved back in 1990 that my car is safe to be on the road

I guarantee that 99% of people in the World are against science being used for politics.
But we need to be conservative about environmental decisions (be on the safe side) than gamble our future.
