I prefer the communities in North Houston. Check the Woodlands and Kingwood if you're willing to handle a bit longer of a commute. A little closer in, you can check Eagle Springs or Fall Creek.

Clear Lake, Pearland, & Friendswood are really nice areas.

There is no "best" one-size-fits-all. There are over 3/4 of the city NOT living in those two areas - for whatever reason. The "best" for any individual is the one that has the best schools in the area they can best afford, closest to their individual job. Budget and job location change the criteria every time.
