......peanut butter and fried bananas!

Sounds disgusting I know, but if you'll bear with me: I stumbled onto this coffee-beans-by-the-pound, made by Lola Savannah, at a local HEB the day before Thanksgiving while looking for something holiday-oriented to enjoy after the Big Dinner.* I'm always willing to try something different but even this one made me pause, but figured a dollar's worth wouldn't hurt. At least it smelled quite good, which was a good sign, despite the seemingly weird combination of flavors.

Turns out it tastes good too. Most people that tried it liked it a lot, myself included.

Just an FYI to other coffee drinkers looking for something good to break up the monotony of the traditional foods/drinks you're "supposed" to indulge in during the holidays.

* HEB used to sell a house brand of coffee flavored with cinnamon and orange year-round, one of my favorite flavors (IIRC it was called "Rio Grande"), but for whatever reason they stopped selling it about 3 years ago.

I haven't tried the "Lunch with Elvis" coffee (not a big banana fan), but I do like getting my coffee from a local Houston company! My "go to" blend year round is Lola's "Cozy Winters Night" -- delicious even in the dead of summer. Regarding the Rio Grande blend, have you asked the HEB rep or called Lola Savannah about it? When a couple of months went by without HEB stocking Cozy Winters Night, I spoke to the Lola's rep and they sent it to the store within a few days -- even called me to let me know it was in and being held for me. Great service.

^ I'll see if I can talk to the manager of my local HEB about carrying the Rio Grande again - thx for the suggestion.

Coffee flavors can be rather unpredictable: there was a coffee store in the West Oaks Mall years ago that carried dozens of unexpected flavors & one of them was apricot. Despite my misgivings about it, the salesperson convinced me to try some (she assured me it was quite popular with many of their regular customers), and strangely enough it turned out to be an excellent combination.
