Did you know there are many places in town that will give you the sticker for the right price? And it's only about $100, not much at all. I support the idea of inspections, just saying they should enforce it better because it's just a joke if not.

Nothing you said there sounds like what a companion of Jefferson's would have said.

What you said sounds positively terrifying, communitarian and completely absent all respect for limited government and the basic idea of America that I get to do whatever I want as long as I don't hurt you. In a free country, you have to suffer the risk of me harming you, as guaranteeing your safety only comes at the expense of another's freedom.

We all agree in America that freedom is more important than safety.

An hour? That's way to long. I take mine to a Texaco here close to my house and am out in less than 30 min. No I'm not divulging the location!

Yes. Texas does not discriminate in educating anyone based upon the last name.

Agreed. I have known people driving vehicles that scream out "take me out of my misery" trolling down the road leaving oil spots anywhere they sit for more than 10 seconds yet proudly displaying an up-to-date inspection sticker on their cracked windshield.

Florida does not require inspections. They used to require an emissions test but anyone that didn't pass was "tipping" the service tech in order to pass.

19 States require annual inspections to ensure vehicle safety. More than 30 (including the 19) require periodic emissions checks. I have lived in States requiring the emission check, Texas is the first I have lived in with a safety check. I wholeheartedly support the safety check. Yup...we don't want to smell like a third world city like Lima, where as soon as you go outside you choke on fumes of car, truck and bus exhaust.
