Im sure ther are always a few of those overzealous people, but overall, i cant imagine large masses from far away places. It's a grocery store, not the second coming...
Even if it was near my house, i'd wait a few weeks before going

We went yesterday from Richmond. It wasnt bad when we were there. Crowded, but short lines. We used to shop at TJ's years ago, and we loved it, so we had to make a trip. Totally worth it.

Source: KHOU -Trader Joe’s plans to open two more stores in the Houston area later this year.  One on Memorial Drive near Voss is scheduled to open its doors in the fourth quarter of this year. Another will open in the historic Alabama Theater building in September.
