Maybe. But it is no different than driving to your favorite restaurant. It is very common to hear people telling the people running the trucks where they drove from to get there.

They are like us, who constantly post here on CD and follow threads for the latest Houston gossip? I think a touche is in order

Think about it though- if someone did own a trendy restaurant in the loop,''someone'' more accurately described being a company downtown that owns multiple restaurants... then all the sudden this "truck" scene pops up down the street, becomes hipsterish and serves better food than the restaurants, of course I would lobby to kill the little guy so my business, already running on tight margins, doesn't fail. Especially in Houston, the city of big business.

As far as sinks on food trucks, check these out:
houston all for sale / wanted classifieds "food truck" - craigslist

I can't speak to how or when they are used. I don't really truck-hop or have interest in the scene. But I have been using this one taco truck for a couple years now and never had any issue with it.
Oh

Food trucks are really big here in Northern California. I have never tried one but the owner of one of my favorite restaurants just bought a food truck. He owns a very nice restaurant and a separate wine and cheese bar that also serves some of the best burgers I have ever had in my life. His food truck is a gourmet burger truck and his said it is doing wonderful...they sell out every day no matter where the truck is stationed.

I honestly don't understand why there are even "two sides" to this argument. I haven't heard a single good reason why they shouldn't only be allowed, but encouraged.

"Oh, it's unfair because they can provide the same food for a lower price!"

That's actually the only argument I've heard. Everything else is just a variation on it.

Exactly why I disagree with the comment that somebody posted here saying
"It's fine, as long as you level the playing field"

Why?
If the restaurant is actually good, the owner could easily buy a food truck and offer the exact same food from a food truck.
Proving that restaurants can benefit, too.

I don't understand what's the big deal against food trucks. IT'S FOOD!!!!!!!! If you served good food out of a hat and the hat was clean then it's dinner time for me. Good food is good food wherever it's served. For people saying that food trucks will take away business from the restaurants, ummm duh that's with any food establishment. Any place of business will take away competition from the next in some shape or form. If restaurants are worried about food trucks then make sure your food is good and people will continue to come. I wouldn't pass up a good restaurant over a cheap bland food truck and most people will be the same way. I will pass up a overprice bland restaurant for a decent price good food truck. In the end it's all about the food.

Exactly! That is what he did! He serves the same gourmet burgers on that food truck that he serves at his wine and cheese bar.

I think he bought into a franchise food truck. They provide the truck (he buys it from them) they also paint it, help you with the name of it and provide him with a monthly schedule for where the food truck goes for that day. It is very expensive up front but he said that the truck is doing great and they sell out every single day.

He is a really smart restaurant business savvy guy and has the best food that I have found in the entire Bay Area!

Except that he doesn't have to make a profit from that food truck
It's pretty much a billboard on wheels that let's people try their food.

It's just like the internet,
people can b...h and cry that "the internet will destroy the newspaper and magazine industry"
but the smart business people adapted to the change and are doing just fine today making money from online advertisement.

Haha. Says the guy with nearly 2800 posts on an internet forum.

These are mobile restaurants. Their location changes every day as do their hours. The only way to know where they are going to be and when is through their Twitter and Facebook updates. So, if you have a craving for Korean pulled pork burritos from Oh my gogi!, Vietnamese fusion from Phamily Bites, Chinese from The Rice Box, Korean cheese steak from Koagie Hots, Chicken Tikka Tacos from Ladybird, gourmet pizza's from Pi Pizza Truck, etc., etc. then you simply go to Facebook or your Twitter feed and find out where they are and when.

Doing so does not make one a loser, certainly no more so than posting 2800 times on an internet forum or driving a few miles to go to a stationary restaurant. Judging people without knowing what you are talking about, on the other hand......
