My daughter did not well on ISEE test. I was wondering if anyone knows the cutoff of ISEE score for admisssion to top private schools in Houston, like St. John's , Kinkaid, and other private schools.

The high school counselor at our middle school said you need at least all 7 stanines and pretty much straight As to be considered at St. John's or Kinkaid. Other places like Episcopal are not so demanding.

Problem is they have to take legacies, and are already dealing with other some "non- performers" since pre-k. Those legs can make some sadly average scores and get in. The few slots left have to be for super stars. Kinkaid will make exceptions for elite athletes or for "diversity."

Strake and St. Thomas don't seem to be as bound to legacies, and take lower scores. EHS is just getting it's first classes of legacy kids and take lower scores. And all these schools are pretty progressive about scholar-shipping under privileged kids that show potential, yet might not be performing up to it. Religious outreach theory.
