I've seen many kind of racism and I think the best way to measure how racist is a town/city is how integrated is that town/city. And I'm aware that it's not 100% accurate, but it's better than saying a whole city is racist because you heard one person yelling something bad at another person (they could have easily be friends joking around)

I love Houston because is so integrated.
You find mixed couples everywhere and you find all kind of people everywhere in the city.
I've been to other cities where you can clearly tell when you left the X race area and went into the Y race area.

Jek74 said my 2nd favorite way to know if there's a lot of racism in a town/city.
Just go to a school cafeteria and see if all the kids are grouped by race.

I disagree with this at least for Houston.

I don't have a lot of experience with other areas in the south, but it seems here that there is quite a bit more mixing peacefully than there is in the north.

There are racists everywhere, but there are also many good non-racist people here.

Really? Depends on the High School I guess. Its by choice, not ostracization.

Agree. Looking at groups in a cafeteria to draw a conclusion on racism is ridiculous.

I agree its by choice. I cant speak for the suburbs but as far as all the inner city schools I went to in Houston, both public and private, Id say racism is virtually nonexistent.

Look at its multiracial population. The higher the percentage, the less racist the place is likely to be.

Not really,
there's many cities that are very multi-racial and the city is still very segregated (each race lives in its own part of the city)

Completely false. NY and LA prime examples.
