Why again do we need this? How many times per year does someone go to an amusement park, once maybe twice? Head to San Antonio instead for a weekend.

Agreed. Houston is pretty much the mutt of the south. It has a history with a good amount of diversity.

I'd like Houston to have a theme park, but not a half-a%$ one.

I'm fairly skeptical of this plan, but I hope it succeeds.

I'd like to take my kids to a good amusement park that didn't require me to travel to San Antonio.

We've gone to Sea World several times. For a one day outing at Sea World, we must leave Friday evening in order to be able to be at the park Saturday morning. One long day at Sea World is enough for us to do anything, but then it's too exhausting to have to drive back Saturday, so we leave Sunday afternoon. This means that we have to pay for two nights of hotel rooms on top of extra meals out. Additionally, it takes an entire weekend.

So, if I wanted to take the kids to an amusement park a couple of different times and Sea World once, that means we'll have 3 separate weekends in San Antonio. Yeah, I would like a park here.
