Whenever we get a cloudy or overcast day here in the KC metroplex, our house feels dark, gloomy and dingy, , something I have never gotten use to .We like a lot of light. Does your home get dark and gloomy in the houston area ?? If so how many days a year. Now that we are getting older the lack of light bothers us . We were in houston in jan , and it was sunny, planning a return trip in aug . Thanks.

We usually get no more than 3 days in a row of dark days.

Once, while living in the St. Louis area it was overcast and under 32 for a least 6 weeks. I noticed everybody I came in contact with was grumpy. Spouses were picking on each other, kids and parents were fussing.

When we bought a house in Glendale and put in a new kitchen, the head guy said, 'lady, you could do surgery in here'. The added light helped our mood.

Depends on how/where your house was built. In my childhood home, virtually our entire lot was surrounded by tall trees and bushes, so we never got a great deal of natural light inside. Some rooms were so dim you had to turn on a lamp in the middle of a cloudless day.

You'll have plenty of sun in August. Bring your sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray and water bottle.
