Anyone ever been to the previous iterations of this event, last held in 2007? What was your impression?

I went when it was in Downtown Houston. When it moved to Reliant Park I lost interest.

Exactly this. Really enjoyed it when they raced thru the streets of downtown. But never had any urge to see it at Reliant. Not sure why, maybe just not as fun as street racing. Plus $20 to park always pisses me off.

I went to the downtown one in 1998. It rained and was cut short. Was CART and it was pretty awesome. Interesting this was renewed. I think I am going to buck up for F1 at COTA this year.

I remember hearing the trial runs echoing through Downtown and thinking it was awesome. The cars could be heard for miles reverberating off the buildings. Some friends worked in a building with roof access and we watched the race from there. It was great.

I never bothered with the race around Reliant Park's parking lot. Maybe it was great, but it seemed impossibly lame to me.

Ditto. My BIL worked at a place downtown and he invited me a few years. It was a fun time. Amazing that those cars could shoot the little rubber chunks onto the roof of the 5 story parking garage we watched it from!

I wouldn't doubt it if one of the reasons they did not renew it downtown was due to all of the non-paying spectators. A race at Reliant just does not appeal to me to pay for tickets. I see Honda is giving away a lot of tickets for test drives, so I'm sure it will be well attended. If I was not busy that weekend, I might test drive a car for some free tickets!
