I think Houston needs a place like this. Kopp's in Milwaukee WI. They have the best fresh made ice-cream, shakes, etc. AND, they have great burgers with grilled onion type options. This place is always organized, clean, nice outdoor seating, quick, and NOT EXPENSIVE.

Kopp's Frozen Custard

In Houston there's the crappy fast food burgers, and way overpriced quality burgers. At Kopps you can get a great tasting fresh burger or sandwich, and super good ice cream all at the same place for a reasonable price.

Love Ben's but more for the atmosphere than the food. With that being said, I'm not a big half smoke guy.

You need to get out more. There are plenty of good burger spots in the range of $5 -$7.

Yup, Stanton's City Bites over in the First Ward has the best burgers in town (imo) for that price. That it looks like an old convenience store (which it was back in the day) in a historic area adds to its charm and authenticity.

Chicago Italian Beef and Pizza on Airline and Cavalcade makes pretty good deep dish pizzas.

I would love a good vegan/vegetarian restaurant. I eat at the greens -- Green Seed Vegan, Green Vegetarian, and Ruggles Green -- quite often, but I would like a place that has atmosphere, and cocktails. The kind of place that would be suitable for a birthday or promotion celebration.

I've eaten at the small, lovely Oxheart. Pricewise, it's (too) rich for the kind of place I'm talking about. (Our bill for two was about $350 with tip.) I've also eaten at Radical Eats a few times. Let's just say I preferred it when it was in its old location.
