All I can say about this is that I've known hard workers and lazy people from any group of people that you tell me, including farmers.

Default Lineup...

Re lineup, I don't ever recall a time when it NEVER sucked. It always sucks to someone, 'always does to me. I was FORCED to sit and watch Miley Cirus/Hanna Montana when my daughter and son were in pre-school.... at least my son was able to sleep through the entire show.

I saw Bon Jovi perform at the rodeo about a decade ago. That was neat.

The mainstream country acts you hear today are hardly part of Houston's "roots". There should be more blues and zydeco acts.

The Rodeo has been lame for a long time and probably always will be. In other cities during the same season you have events like SXSW and Jazz Fest going on. Houston needs to step its festival game up.

have the rodeo tickets always been this expensive or is it something new? I always got tickets from vendors and sponsors in the past. This time I actually saw some prices and I was somewhat shocked.

The only event I've enjoyed lately is the BBQ cook-off, never been a big fan of the Rodeo/Concerts. I do enjoy the livestock/Flea Market exhibitions and food....that's about it. This will be the 6th straight year we've been invited to a Cookoff tent

It isn't a houston roots thing. It's not about Houston's heritage. It's about it being a rodeo thing, which you know, is a cowboy event.

Bro-country has about as much to do with cowboy heritage as Scandinavian death metal.

Our opinions differ - no biggie. Been going to the rodeo since I was a kid, which at that time was all country artists so that's what I see as rodeo in my eyes. If I wanted to get technical, cowboy roots actually go back to Spain.

It's in Houston, so I fail to see why it shouldn't involve Houston's roots. Just because it's a rodeo doesn't mean it has to be a generic one.

Like I said, the city's events need some major cultivating. Houston will never be considered a great city until it learns how to sell what is truly unique about it.
