Many Houstonians like to promote the area as some uber-inclusive place where all live in harmony. But it tends to be straight middle class white people who have never experienced the world as a minority who are making the claim. Houston is a great place to live, but it’s hardly San Francisco on the Bayou. Given 2/3 of the citizens made a decision to walk into a voting both and rollback rights and protections for their LGBT neighbors just a few years ago belies the trope that Houston is some sort of place where LGBT couples are as welcomed as anyone else. The OP should be made aware of the whole truth.

They also are either tied to the city's public affairs, or simply don't have a reference of knowledge beyond what was written on a news article or a "top ten" ranking.

It's quite telling that such promotion even has to be made in the first place. And wasn't even made until the (misleading) Kinder Institute study was published.

If Houston wants HERO we need to recruit more middle class white people with a liberal slant. Right now Houston is only about 20% white, most of whom are wealthy & conservative and vote based solely on their pocketbook. As of now more and more whites are leaving the city... it is said Harris county will eventually become this way. Who does that leave? Hispanics, blacks, Asians and Arabs who are religious and may be democrats for the freebies, but mostly abhor homosexuality. Demographics are trending in the wrong direction here for the city.

Unless, of course, the children don't inherit their elders' viewpoints.

Once again, the jokes write themselves.

That is a rough estimate of the city. Not talking about the metro since HERO did not apply to them. For the 2020 census you can figure on 47% Hispanic, 26% black, 7% Asian and that leaves 20% white. What’s so funny or difficult to understand about it?

What's funny is that in a thread where we're talking about being fair, unbiased and accepting of certain groups of people it's quickly turned into a conversation about how to eliminate or replace as many white conservatives as possible in order to reach a political goal.

20%?! Where do you get that number from? I know what you mean about intolerant foreigners. I wish that there were much less of them here.

What's the name of that Catholic school with the MAGA hat boys. Today's youth IS inheriting their elders viewpoints. I remember hearing children in Target the day after the election saying "I hate Donald Trump"

simply echoing what they've heard. They're not thinking for themselves on both sides.

See my above post. the city of Houston was officially 25% white in 2010. Making some slight adjustments... growing Hispanics and well publicized white flight out of Houston / Harris county since then, I came up with a realistic 20%. If you consider 600,000 illegal aliens it is closer to 16% but that doesn’t matter considering they couldnt have voted for HERO. Just sayin’.

I’m not suggesting “eliminating” or doing anything, just pointing out an observation. Perhaps in 20-25 years that will change with a new generation, but I seriously doubt it. That culture of being uneducated doesn’t change in one generation.
