If the family has to have Go Fund Me for her funeral, they will never be able to come up with 100K, even if they were nuts enough to want to. It's about time the bails are set higher.

What does state law say about all this $100-1000 bail for misdemeanors? Perhaps the state needs to change some misdemeanors to felonies. Inflation makes that reasonable.

Defendants are entitled to bond except in capital murder cases, where bond is optional.

Commissioners are putting pressure on Crime stoppers because Crime stoppers advocated for certain judges. That's a violation of their non-profit charity status, which should now be revoked, making all donations non tax deductible, and forcing the organization to pay taxes.

Inflation would operate the other direction. For example, if theft of $1,000 is a felony(it isn't, this is for the sake of argument), inflation would make it reasonable to increase that to $1100.

Bonds are being set lower for misdemeanors as a result of lawsuits against judges and the County for setting bail too high, to the point where some defendants couldn't make bail, and ended up spending more time in jail waiting for trial than they would have been sentenced to had they been convicted.

[Mod cut: personal] I figured you would jump on here making excuses on why this man deserves bond.

Where did anybody even hint this murderer should have bond?

You might want to contact your state politicians. They make the laws according the national and state founding documents.

Maybe if the governor were not so focused on the border he could devote some attention to bail bonds and bonding companies.

Perhaps Crime Stoppers needs to talk with Judge Lee Rosenthal regarding bail bonding and who should get it.

Who is making excuses? The fact is that all defendants are entitled to bond, except in capital murder cases where bond is optional in Texas. If you don't like that, you can try to convince the Legislature to change the law.

The State's Motion for Sufficient Bail was for $2 million.

Again, all defendants, except in capital murder cases, are entitled to reasonable bond. A judge can't just deny bond.

know that, I know that. The Texas and Harris county Republican party knows that.

But the blaming crime on those awful liberal judges is effective.

There is a constable posting their arrests, the judges and the bail on Next door. Expect a change in the judges next election day.
