No, you're putting words into my mouth, words I *never* said.

I was talking about Houston being a welcoming city. And how we embrace people who come here. NOLA has had more than its share of hard times lately, and Houston responded as only Houstonians & Texans do... come, stay, let us help. After Katrina (and more), people of all walks of life came here, and many stayed. Doctors, chefs, blue collar workers, retired people.

THAT'S what I said. Apology accepted.

Any Haitians that wind up here will probably be in extreme poverty and there probably wont be enough of them to establish a specific area of Houston as theirs (like they do in North Miami). So wherever is the least expensive area of Houston that has lots of apartments. Could be 5th Ward, could be South Park (south of 610), etc.

That’s something I would say. Along with having a very high violent crime / murder rate. And higher than average rates of drug addiction, untimely death and sexually transmitted diseases. What else am I missing? Obvious 3rd world attributes are obvious. Truth will set you free… even if it hurts.

Sounds like Houston honestly. Don't get me started on this 3rd world infrastructure. Ditches and horrible roads in affluent communities? LOL OK

Houston is the new south, New Orleans is the old south (and part Caribbean). The whole south has this problem. Just in Texas it’s not really “3rd world” yet because it is bigger and newer. But the same mentality and an ever-growing population who came from the real 3rd world yesterday makes it destined for the same fate in time. I probably will not live to see it though.

I’m so happy to see so many positive posts - on the first page at least. This is lovely and hopeful.

My heart has been warmed.

But - it devolves… I don’t understand the automatic response of being so hostile to others - and viewing them as one negative entity.

This wonderful. I’m so happy for these folks. Thank you, Houston.
