I've used a service called Texas Power Guide. It's a no-frills, no bull**** listing of the best deals available, many unpublished. They don't do affiliate agreements with the providers, so you'll find some better offers there. It's $9.99 one time fee for three months access to view best rates.

PS - I signed up with a provider in this past April at 10.3¢ per kw/hr fixed for 3 years.

2,000 kWh 13.3¢

A huge increase from last year, given the market today, it seems pretty good.
These were April rates. You did not need Ogre to get this rate.

We can do everything that Ogre can. No needed to pay them.

For some reason I thought they had a little more insight into the energy market than the ability to read the fine print on power to choose.

We have been paying them 10 bucks a month for 4 years.

And when the whole world knew the price of natural gas was going up, they sent an email. "we have your back".. Trusting them will cost me at least .07 a KWH for the next year.

Those 2 kids up around the Metroplex ran a tighter shop. But they vanished.

All fine prints are transparent for the consumer to read. EFL and terms.

The sad thing is that this BS system is setup to screw people over
If you are smart enough to figure out their game, you get a good deal.
If you don’t have above average intelligence or have the time … you’ll pay more.

I’m still paying a little less than 10c/kWH and my contract ends next year … but I had to do some work to get that plan.

One of the tricks I use is to eliminate plans with large variation between 500, 1000 and 2000 kWH.
That tells me that their rate is not linear and rates at 750, 1250, 1750 could be much higher.

Welcome to deregulation, where consumers with limited tools go head to head with companies that have all of the numbers they need to win.

Those tools are not as good as the tools the power sellers have. This was all much better before deregulation.
