What tools do the power sellers have that we don’t?

It's all there.

But do all consumers have the same arithmetic skills and reading comprehension to get the best deal?

Somebody comes on Next Door ever couple of weeks seeking advice on electricity rates. It is clear many are lacking needed talent.

Most post 'I am with --- and I pay xxx a month. Nothing is said of usage or rates. Size of house, number of occupants, windows, shade, insulation and price per KWH are never mentioned. All most care about is monthly payment for electricity.

IIRC, all those resellers on powertochoose are owned by 5-7 companies.

And the governor can confuse people all day long saying he has nothing to do with ERCOT.

Who knows who appoints them?

That isn’t anyone’s problem but the consumers. Tools are there. It’s up them to get motivated and reserve some time to do the homework. Sales people try to sell me higher plan all the time because they work off commission. I always school them.

Thanks, So far, so good.

When making our leave this house in a hearse move, a wise person on CD said if you don't want to flood, get on the perimeter of the watershed.

We also figured if you don't want to be without electricity for 11 days after a storm again, get close to a hospital. And that Centerpoint transmission line we have to pass under to get to our subdivision is unsightly . But even when 1/2 of Houston was freezing in the dark, our lights never flickered.

We also had the areas best HVAC company install 2 new units. They are serviced twice a year. I'm told by the tech, at 7 years old the run and look like new.

How do you find out if your home is on that hospital transmission line?

Not sure, but I clearly benefit from being behind one
It’s very rare for my power to go out for more than a minute, even when other houses in the area lost power.
