I remember the short lived girls gone wild boom type of clubs; Surf Shack, Hurricane Hut and Bikini Beach.

They were the nastiest dens of mayhem this side of the Mississip.

No wonder Houston was voted "Dirtiest" city by the Dirty.Com. Dirty means sleazy in this context. I do miss some of that action living in some tame cities by comparison (NYC, Boston, LA).

I didn't read all the posts, but does anyone remember the Cellar down at Allen's landing? Or, does anyone remember Love Street Light Circus ( what a name)? A hotel taken over by folks that blared music for their enjoyment, and everyone else's I suppose. I remember it being very loud. Allen's Landing wasn't a place you would take your date, but it was an interesting place. I think I went there maybe two or three times with my buddies. When they refused to go back, I called it quits as well.

The Gulfton Ghetto has the BEST apartments. I love 70s apartments! I used to live in that area just because I liked the apartment and the price. Unfortunately, I didn't love the feel of living in Mexico while in the United States. I never knew it used to be a nightspot area.

What about T-Town? It was the club in the late 90s early 00s... there were four clubs in one, mostly urban crowd, but great music and venue (if you liked hip-hop, R & B and Pop) plus one of the best Karaoke and Carribean bars that I can remember around that time.

Default Cooters.....

I came across this today... for anyone who remembers Cooters. I recall the bathrooms were behind the wall with the big TV screens. HA! Scroll through the page to see the set of photos.

I think that area has the highest murder rate in Houston.

Forgot to add Seabrook beach club and then at one time the Clear Lake Hilton had "Band on the Lake" on Sundays - what a nasty cesspool the swimming pool was on those days.

I didn't see any mention of Blue Planet.

What was the name of the place where they would take a black marker and write an 'M' on your hand if you were a minor? That would stop the bartenders from serving you...that is until you went to the bathroom and washed your hands.
