For those who have asked for my yard man's contact info, I'll send you his cell phone number iN a private message. His name is Ramon and, as I said earlier, his English isnt great but his work is. At least, I think so. Here are a few photos of the patio (taken on the day it snowed last December):

Whoops, this entire time I was thinking "patio covers", not the actual patio where you step on

Silly me. It looks goog texasfirewheel. I'm in the market for an actual patio cover, roof style that needs to match my house's roof because of my HOA. Either way, I'm sure the contractors mentioned will do it all.

Thanks, Txgal. Yes, I am enjoying it so much. I also love the way the sidewalks around the house look, as well as the front porch and steps. And I really love that it didnt cost me an arm and a leg. I'm just a single gal with a small house and dont have the $$$ for what patio companies wanted to charge.

Their quote was outrageously expensive. My recommendation is get more than 2 quotes from various companies. Funny thing is these so called companies usually subcontract to the same crew of Mexicans that actually build the patio for most of these companies. The guy that comes out to give you a quote is some slick-talking old white guy that brings a bunch of pictures of various projects and probably never lifted a hammer.
Preferred Builders just gave me an on site quote for $10,800 for a 12'x24' patio cover with one ceiling fan and a couple of flood lights. A bit high at almost $38 a square foot.

No, not yet. I am still getting quotes for a cover. I have a 2 story home with hardiplank siding, and I'm guessing that the low quotes I am getting will be patio covers that do not tie in to the house's joists, but that sit flush against the house. I have a neighbor who made a patio cover the whole width of his house that sits flush against his house siding. I wonder how well it will hold up in the wind.
