I have close family moving to Katy area and cannot afford the Cinco Ranch area. They are looking at a home in the area north of Clay Rd, between Greenhouse and Barker Cypress Rd. Can anyone tell me about this area?? Is it safe for young family with very young children?? Thanks in advance for your help!!

The area South of I-10 is a little nicer than the North. However, I don't see a difference in terms of safety. It's still a good area.

It's fine. The homes are just smaller and usually older. Mostly built in the 80's. There are some nice little subdivisions in that area - full of people that are nice but can't afford Cinco.

As far as the suburbs go, you'd be hard pressed to beat Katy, Texas. I've inspected homes there for years and also play a billiards league that meets at all of the various sports bars in Katy. I live in Richmond but I've always thought Katy would be a great place to live, it's got everything!

Smile Where are you coming from?

If you are used to Texas then that area would be fine. It just makes a difference where you are from. There is a lot of diversity in that area just like in the whole Houston area. You may want to consider an older community in South Katy.

You may want to consider the communities neighboring Cinco Ranch. I live in Westheimer Lakes North - granted, it's no Cinco Ranch, but it doesn't have Cinco Ranch prices either. Great thing is all of the cool things at Cinco (e.g. the shoppes etc.) are just a short drive from WLN.

I have to agree, WLN is a good deal. I have lived here for over three years, and it has been the best decision my family and I have ever made.
