If you're looking at real estate and want to know how big a property is (acres), Madison County provides an interactive map with every property within, and lists the acreage for some properties.

OK... I am going to expose my nerd side...... I go to that website at least once every 2 weeks..... It's interesting to me to see parcel information such as cost of the land, as well as the assessed cost of the current structures, what year they were built, etc.... also it is useful to give a rough estimate of what possible real estate deals are out there....

The LAST place I would look to determine "real estate deals" is the tax assessor's site.....their valuations are never used as a basis for market value, as they tend to just do "blanket" assessments and not individual property assessments (which would be impossible now that assessments are done on a yearly basis).

Oh, and more often than not their square footage data is way off as well

The nerd in me loves to explore the Probate record site. If I ever get tired of the real estate grind I would definitely want to do title work. I LOVE the probate office!

I've used this site extensively when searching for places to go metal detecting. I wish the zoomed out view was more detailed than just a "stick" representation of roads. Kinda hard to find your way around until you zoom in close enough for road names to appear. It is nice though that you can turn on the satellite imagery.

Google Maps also has plat maps (property boundaries) if you zoom in close enough on road view.
