Very early concepts had these characteristics now its just boring. The view from the apartments will be a parking lot. Looks like another great potential project that will end up being done as cheaply and minimally as possible.

I agree. It has been a complete joke. I am so sick of seeing either the weeds or after they push the dirt around annually, the red dirt.

I was saying the city should just take it if they had to use imminent domain to get it several years ago if it was just going to be an ugly mess all the time.

Unfortuneately, it will probably end up being another one of the ugly ass new style designs that are boxes with boxes sticking out of them and all the sections using different materials of different colors and looking like a bunch of scrap left over material was used to cobble up an ugly box. I despise those designs, use of materials and color schemes and will be glad when the fad passes and they start repainting them so they don't look like junk.

Key to Constellation is the planned Pinhook Greenway and the proposed Sky Bridge over Memorial Parkway.
Also seems the long development plan 5 years or more will hurt but it is a demand driven project which makes it easy for other development to surpass it (Coke site, City Centre, even StoveHouse.
The development at the coke site will be a much better project
It'll be interesting to see what the concrete plans are for this site. The announcement that something is forthcoming was made several months ago, so it shouldn't be long before we know what will be built there and what it will look like.

I doubt we ever see the skybridge, but you never know.

Looks like Huntsville will likely surpass Montgomery in the July 2019 estimates.

Based on trends that's looks very possible. Huntsville has been gaining population while Montgomery and Birmingham have been slowly losing population. After they pass Montgomery they can set their sights on Birmingham.

Huntsville

2010: 180,105
2017: 194,585 (est)
2018: 197,318 (est)

Montgomery
2000: 201,568
2010: 205,764
2017: 199,518 (est)
2018: 198,218 (est)

Birmingham
2000: 242,840
2010: 212,237
2017: 210,710 (est)
2018: 209,880 (est)

Are there any estimates for the metro areas? I'm sure that's where Birmingham city has been losing population to, Huntsville city has been growing because there aren't as many desirable suburbs like there are in Birmingham, and the city itself isn't anywhere near as bad as Birmingham (IMO). I have a feeling that the Birmingham metro area hasn't been losing much for population while Huntsville metro area has been growing.

The grant for the skybridge we should have in June or July I believe.

Latest metro estimates: https://factfinder.census.gov/faces/...html?src=bkmk#

The Birmingham metro, as defined in July 2018, was fairly stable, gaining about 23,000 since the 2010 census. The metro area definition dropped Walker County in the fall of 2018 so the new number is reduced by about 63,700 (Walker County lost about 5% of its population, for some reason, since the 2010 census).

The Huntsville metro, still just two counties, gained about 45,000 over the time period. That makes it the 69th fastest percentage growing metro in the country, and 73rd highest in actual numbers ... not as fast as many might think.
