Ezio, look at the links posted in the thread at the top. Rental housing...you can try al.com - Everything Alabama and look for the classifieds section. Some real estate agents also handle rentals...we have a couple who post here who can point you in the right direction.
Welcome to the United States, and to Alabama!

Welcome Ezio.

Key question - what team do you support? Roma or Lazio?

I don't know if it is dangerous answer to this question!!!
Anyway I'll answer without care: my football team is Roma.
I hope that this is the right answer!
If not try to help me in any case.

Good answer from my point of view.

I'm new to the area myself and have found this forum to be a great resource and the posters are fantastic.

We're still trying to find a great pizza place, I was thinking of bringing a friend over from Rome to be the chef.

I still like Juventus, but was disappointed in the scandal, happy to see them back in Serie A.

For US MLS teams, I like DC United.

Ezio - are you military?

Let's get this thread back on track:

How old are your children; do you prefer public, private, or church schools?

Madison (as you noted) would be a good choice for schools and is an easy commute to RSA.

Sunday's paper lists several houses in Madison in your price range (here's a sample):

143 Bremerton 4 BR, 2.5 Bath $1100 mo, $1100 dep
104 Castleview 4 BR, 4 bath $1450
790 Eastview 5 BR, 2 bath $1295
Hardiman Road 4 BR, 3 bath $1395

There are also homes in Hampton Cove (HSV) in your price range:
2314 Little Cove 4 BR, 2 bath $1500
2618 Little Cove 4 BR, 3 bath $1295

Plus many more houses in SE HSV.
1509 Cleermont 3 BR $995 (Blossomwood Elementary School)
722 Mira Vista 5 BR, 2 bath $1100 (Valley Hill Golf Club)

I suggest that you contact one of the Real Estate professionals who post here (HsvMike) or contact a realtor. You will have many choices within your price range. You may even save some money if you really want a smaller house.
