OP, Meridianville is fine. I'd probably try to stay in the Hazel Green school district if you have kids, and not in Buckhorn. Just make sure you're looking at resale, because all types of houses are being thrown up, in all types of neighborhoods. Many of those in that area do not age well.

If you want to have some fun people watching, go to any gas station across the state line in Tennessee on Sunday morning, and watch the church folks heading across to get their lottery tickets.
... or, like me, filling up at $2.90 or $3 per gallon near Fayetteville compared to $3.20 in AL.

But how much gas you spent driving all the way to Fayetteville?

Define "all the way." I stopped in on my way back from a trip to Falls Mill for a foliage photo shoot session.

Since I know approx. where you live so I am going to take a guess.

Assuming it's 25 miles one-way so it's 50 miles round trip, and assuming you have a beat-up truck that gets 15 mpg, so it takes 3.3 gallon of gas for you to save that 20 cents per gallon. So it costs you $10 to save that $3 per tank of gas

Property taxes on a $250,000 homestead in unincorporated Madison County would be around $850.

The same $250,000 house in the Huntsville city limits would be around $1,400.

Just for a comparison I bought a rental in City of Madison. Because it's a rental so not able to homestead, my property tax is $2,450/yr. This is for a ~$200K home.

For Limestone county a $275K home only costs me $730/yr. What a difference!

Got a buddy that moved from Madison up to Taft a few years back. His commute isn't half bad for the amount of money he saved.

Granted Taft is a lot closer to Research Pkwy than Fayetteville.

In Huntsville city district 5 and also town of Triana. Not in Meridianville though.

Are you wanting to go with a developer or buy land, then build? Has your search expanded past Meridianville?
