hi all
i am looking into making a transition to decatur on a fixed income and 2 small dogs. i have a couple of questions. i heard of dover glenn apts i noticed they are very reasonably priced but my concern is would i be getting what i am paying for?? is the neighborhood safe and decent? do you guys have any other suggestions for someone like me i cant afford to pay over 550 for a 2 bedrm apt or a small affordable house or trailer. while i know this is a little money it is a lot for me i wont get a mansion in the best neighborhood but i dont want to be afraid to leave my home at night or afraid someone will come in on me.
any help with info anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Over the past few years, Dover Glen has been the scene of a meth lab bust and several shootings.
I wish I could tell you a nicer apartment complex, but I really have no clue about apartments around here - the one time I needed an apartment, there were literally none to be had, and I wound up renting a house for 6 months.
There is a complex of apartments and townhomes on the other side of the Beltline, off Cedar Lake Road - name of Wind something, I think - that seems nice. Another is Albany Lake? Albany something.
Welcome to Decatur.
Much good luck to you!

I have several of my employees living in Danville Park Apartments. They haven't had any problems yet.

I work off of Central Parkway SW, there are SEVERAL apartment complexes over here, and I never hear of any crime, or police arrests, or drugies.

List of Apartments.

There is Cedar Key Apartments: 2br/2bt ranging around $400-$500.
I am not sure about pets though.

Courtney Square Apartments same as above

Wheeler Estate Apartments allows pets and is $495-$565.

Southlander: I think you are talking about Albany Landing.

Well, Decatur's 31 strip was abit like Manassas to us--not appealing at all. JMO--we're looking for the pretty part.

I've just signed on tonight, cglover! Have you arrived Decatur yet? Have you found a place? If not, would you like for me to take some photos and give you a description of the neighborhood/property? I could provide fresh, unbiased info since I have been here only a month.

Kind regards,
Sondra 256-227-2795

Welcome SondraK, we need more Decatur and Morgan County people here! The original poster (OP) asking about Decatur apartments was a poster named "loso." CGlover is happily living in Madison.
Do cruise around the board, try the different features, and read some of the older topics in this forum, as well as some of the other forums. Lots of fun!
