We live close to the Hampton Cove area off Governor's and are trying to find a pediatrician in the area and so far I have come up empty. No one is accepting new patients! My son needs his one year checkup, and the best I could do was a ped out in Madison that had an opening for the middle of March. We just moved here and I had no idea it would be like this! Anyone have any other ideas as far as pediatricians go? Pediatric Associates were so rude over the phone, so even if they did have an opening, I wouldn't go there. Also called Twickenham pediatrics and the lady there was SO nice, but they have no openings either. Will a walk-in clinic give vaccinations?

What about pediatric dentists? or family dentists?

We use Dr. Garrard for our family doctor. He has been wonderful so far and is accepting new patients. His phone number is 382-7767. He is over on Airport and Balmoral. We also use Dr. Pope in Hampton Cove for our dentist. He sees adults and children and seems very competent.

Dr. Pope is right in Hampton Cove - husband/wife team although honestly, was not impressed with the wife, I really like the husband. They are a family dentist with experience working at a pediatric dentist and everyone there, including the hygienists, are great with kids. I've taken my 4 and 7 y/o there several times.

Proudmommy, so how have wait times been at Dr. Garrard's? We need a family doctor - actually thinking of switching the kids to a family doctor too. When there is a flu outbreak in the area the ped's waiting room is a nightmare because it seems like everyone brings in their kids if they so much as have a fever for 1 day.

I've been to Dr. Garrard probably ten times in a year and a half. I've never waited more than ten minutes. I almost always get very convenient (after work, like 4PM) appointments and I make these days in advance. I don't think anyone can do better.

So, for convenience, I give him an A+.
