Sunday 5Jun2022 - Hurricane Hunter aircraft find a closed low level circulation in PTC1 (formally invest 91L) meeting the final criteria for classification about 165miles (265km) East of Florida. Heading out to sea. May come close to Bermuda as heads Northeast to East-Northeast direction. Tropical Storm Watch for Bermuda.
Winds 50mph(80km/h), moving Northeast 18mph(30km/h), pressure 995mb. Because a Watch is in place NHC updates Storm stats every 3 hours at 2,5,8&11a/pEDT: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
The projected path of Alex appears to be aimed at Europe. I am not sure if North Atlantic Ocean temperatures are currently warm enough to sustain and build that storm. European tropical and extropical storm events have been rare but several studies say that they will be more frequent in the future. Bad for Europe but fascinating for meteorologic enthusiasts.
Sun 5Jun 5pEDT/6pADT: Winds 65mph(100km/h), moving East-Northeast 28mph(44km/h), pressure 991mb. TS Warning for Bermuda as scattered showers begin to move through now, Storm to pass North of the island. Bermuda radar: 250km_sri
Mon 6Jun 8aEDT/9aADT: Winds 65mph(100km/h), moving East-Northeast 28mph(44km/h), pressure 992mb. Center passing just North of Bermuda, but storms have overall cleared out there as Alex loses Tropical characteristics with storms well removed to the Northeast leaving just a swirl of clouds for the center. It’s about done.
Mon 6Jun 5pEDT/6pADT: Winds 60mph(95km/h), moving East-Northeast 31mph(50km/h), pressure 993mb. Loses it's tropical characteristics, so just another Low out at sea now about to merge with other weather systems. No more advisories from the NHC, an archive: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/2022/ALEX.shtml?
