Hey Everyone,

Hope you all are having a good night. I'm 26 years old originally from Philadelphia but have been living in Florida for the past 2 years. Let me tell you, my girlfriend and I can't wait to move to Idaho!

[mod cut at poster's request]

Just wanted to introduce myself and share my enthusiasm and excitement for this new Chapter. I have reason after reason why we want to move out of Florida, if you're interested let me know and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Cheers!

Can't speak for the other person, but for this Floridian, it's this...
population 19.4 million vs. 1.6 million plus I hate the hot humid summers here.

Now that white stuff that falls outta the sky might frighten me a little, but I'd rather contend with it vs. tropical storms, tornadoes, hordes of love bugs and other creepy crawlies, hordes of people, hordes of traffic, etc.

There are lots of reasons why we want to move out of Florida, but I'll just name some of the main reasons. Being from the Northeast we both grew up with seasons. Originally we did not think we would miss them, but we really do. We do not appreciate warm weather anymore we just dread it. There is also not much to do in the Tampa area that does not cost money. We are sick of all the old people everywhere. Neither of us have a problem with the elderly but being the youngest person in the room, restaurants, building, office gets old after a while no pun intended. Driving in Florida is not like driving in another state, we have traveled a lot to other states and Florida has been by far the worst. Also the cost of living here is terrible, especially housing. We worked with a realtor about a year ago and probably look at close to 75 houses. We could not find one in our price range that had any more than .25 acres and was what we were looking for. We definitely want at least an acre or two and in this area that's not happening. The amount of sex offenders is also not comforting, in doing a search of any address its rare to not have them close by.

I could keep going on and on, but I'll save that for another time.

lluvia, I only asked cause I did the same thing three years ago next month (Seminole Heights) and for much of the same reasons you listed.
The snow is great but must be embrace, or you'll hate it.

Hey DREAMS, I feel ya. Housing here is more expensive than Tampa, at least where I lived. People drive fast and slow but don't flip you off when you pass them.
We are very happy here and my plan is to never go back to FL again.
But boy do I miss the food.

Glad to hear you acclimated.
I still have roughly 4 yrs. until I could make a move.
Obviously, a lot can happen between now and then but Idaho is one of the states on my radar.

Welcome to the Idaho forums. Our state is very diverse and unfortunately there are only two sub forums for now. What part of Idaho are you thinking of moving to? It is roughly 400 miles from top to bottom of the state so you will see a lot of difference along the way. I love that diversity in topography and climate.

Good point, just about everthing in north Idaho is very different from the rest.
