We've got more snow on the ground this morning. It's sticking.

Goodbye tomato plants. I pulled them into the garage a couple of days before the snow, but gave up and harvested the last of the tomatoes and hope they will ripen on the kitchen counter.

It was beautiful all day yesterday. Huge fluffy snow flakes drifting down.

No snow on the ground at Gold Hill on the Sandpoint webcam, but snow on the Selkirks! Looks beautiful.

But I worry about our little travel trailer next to our cabin--we haven't winterized it yet. We thought we'd have at least another month. What do you guys think--does it have to be done before the first dip into freezing temps at night, or just before the first series of days with temps around/below freezing?

Not sure but my husband decided he needs to winterize our motor home sooner rather later. And it’s in a garage.
It was 29 here in Spokane last night, but Who knows which way the weather is going to go?
But up on the river, we’d routinely get sub freezing nights.
I hope that place is okay. The folks who bought it had never heard of winterizing!

I thought I would have more time as well. Got all my hoses picked up, put the tank heater in the horses' water tank, covered the patio furniture. But I didn't get the shade taken off the pergola so now it will have to dry out in the garage before I can put it away. Supposed to be 28 tonight.

CFF I hope your trailer makes out ok with no bursts.

If you open all drains and faucets and get some air in most of the lines, it will help considerably. Too many variables to know if it will be any problem over one night..... depends on the wind, amongst many other things.

You don't need to open all the faucets all the way to keep them from freezing. Just a slow drip is enough to prevent freeze.

It's like CFF says; a dripping faucet allows air into the lines, and inside a house, that air is all that's needed to prevent frozen pipes.

I only turn mine on when the temps are expected to drop to -10º below zero or more. Even if a home is only 50º inside, that's still about 20º above freezing when the weather is hovering around zero on a thermometer.

Thanks for advice--we'll do whatever we need to do. It's an old travel trailer, but it has supplied us with kitchen and bath during the construction process, and we need to have it in working order for at least one more summer before the house is done!

Good pictures! Oh man my wife and I cannot wait for some legit snow and lots of it when we move to ID. In my nearly 40 years in northern Texas we've only had that I can remember 2 or 3 legitimate "snow" events of more than 10". The largest was in 2010 where we had 18" of snow (20" where we lived at that time). Having never experienced that before this it was quote magical as we didn't get ice along with it that we would normally get. Just light large fluffy snow. It was glorious.
