Hey DR, your post was #500 on this ol' home Porch thread of ours! Congrats! Besides, that's the most thinking-out-of-the-box Valentine's Day I ever heard of!
Trace, didn't know it was the big 4-0! New decade, new state, new life!
I spent V-Day doing heavy yard work out in the canyon part of of our property--it has to be done before it gets too hot. Was rewarded by seeing a family of seven quail making their way through the cleared area. Didn't even know we had quail!

Yeah N. Its a whole new ball of wax for me...

Quail or cool and TASTY.. They are all over here. 10 or so hang out across the street on the neighbors fence all the time.. Almost ran over a grouse coming in the driveway of my property a couple weeks ago lol...

Trace,

A note about Grouse...they are dangerous to your home windows. Take a walk around your place on a sunny day. Any windows that reflect/mirror the outside are in danger of being hit by grouse. We had one shatter our dining area window because from the outside, in broad daylight, it reflects the forest. We hung small colored wind chimes in front of those windows to be safe.

Hey thats good to know Sage... I like wind chimes anyway and planned on making some. Now I'll be sure to do that soon...

Went out on the ATV's around the property today.. Man is there ALOT of deer, elk, and moose sign.. They are fertilizing the place VERY nicely..LOL.. Lots of them bedding down, and near the riperian springs throughout the place they are really active.

Its so awesome here, and dang the weather is unreal...

The weather is very spring-like for sure. Here is a shot out the bedroom window on one fine day:

Tough to wake up to that view E. Bet your going to miss the Tonto Basin and the warm breezes blowing across the Painted Desert, plus the shortage of water there. Not to mention the purple sage on an early morning as the sidewinders and other Desert Denizens awaken. Can you tell I have read a lot of Westerns? You are probably going through culture shock with all the greenery and rain. Ha Ha

I think it has rained more in the month or so that I have been here than the entire existence I had in that OTHER state.

elousv, great picture!

I had a good weekend, a group of us took the ATVs up over Hoodoo Mountain from Blanchard to Priest River. Enough snow to be a challange, but we all made it fine. Guys in the SxS (Rino) had there work cut out for them though. Lunch at the Feedmill in PR. Good food for a good price and nice, friendly service, I recommend the place. Not fancy if that's your thing, but lots of value. It was a good day, upwards of 70 miles, good friends, nice views and good food.

I took the wife out to the Firewood Grill (I think it's called, across from Mitchels) in PR on valentines day. We happened to go early (noon) due to some other stops we had to make. Food and service was good, but pricy. 2 lunches (sandwich with fries, and a salad), shared desert and a couple beers were around $50. Afterwards we stopped by the pet shelter in Sandpoint and added a couple kitties to our menagree-yes there is something wrong with us.

All around a nice weekend.
