Calderon considers them collateral damage. Why would he care if a couple hundred don’t make it? After all, they’re his discarded population. He doesn’t give a flying fig about any of them. As long as millions of his peasants continue to send billions to Mexico, all is well.

Right, just as long as most of them make it here the gravy train continues for the Mexican government. If some don't make it....oh well as you said you win some you lose some. Small losses vs big gains is what counts to them.
And as usual, the Mexican side spins it so it's THIS country's fault -
Quote:
Mexican Consul Juan Manuel Calderon Jaimes says his government needs to do a better job of warning potential illegal immigrants of the dangers of crossing the desert. He also says the solution to the problem is changing U.S. immigration law so more people can enter legally.
How about a better solution, like they don't cross illegally into a country where they don't have any right to be?
"He also says the solution to the problem is changing U.S. immigration law so more people can enter legally".
So it matters not whether we need more people or have jobs or resources to accomodate them? What about the millions of other people across the world that want to come here? Should we take them all in whether we need them or not? Or is it only Mexicans that should have that priviledge?
Our Government REPEATEDLY informs us on the dangers of cigarette smoking, yet we...light up.
Now, contrast the Mexican Government getting the word out to it citizens that the Northren border is a dangerous place.
It is common knowledge that the Mexican government does not even attempt to dissuade illegal immigration. In fact, they issue “how to” pamphlets to assist their citizens on their illegal trek to the US. Why on earth would Mexico want to curtail illegal entry when the billions of dollars they receive is their #2 source of revenue? That’s the only reason they continue to stick their hypocritical noses into our immigration affairs.
Illegals have been pouring into this country for decades.
Why the sudden outrage in the last few years?
Don't get me wrong, illegals don't belong here but until businesses
that employ them are penalized the problem doesn't go away.
Compare it to a dam with a slow leak. You aren't likely to notice it or be concerned about it until the dam overflows and causes serious damage. Businesses that employ them are being penalized when they are caught. The only way to catch them all is to implement e-verify across the board but with big business in the back pockets of our politicians and the pro-illegal advocates fighting this effective measure our hands are pretty much tied. There are other measures we can take to deter illegal immigration such as ending birthright citizenship, denying benefits to illegals, etc. but then again we are fighting the greedy employers, our government, the illegal aliens and their advocates. It will be an uphill battle but one that can we won with our voices and our votes.
