The teen's family described him as a student who stayed out of trouble. But U.S. law enforcement officials said AdrÃan Hernández had a criminal record for guiding undocumented immigrants across the border.
Seems his family really didn't take too much notice of what their child was up to

"Sergio was like many young teens in Mexico. He loved to play soccer and wanted to one day become a soldier or police officer.
Isn't this what all parents of criminal children claim?
He was a good kid, studied hard in school. blah blah blah . Yes all good kids who study hard also have criminal records.

Even the Spanish news station here covered this - but not completely sympathetic to these money hungry relatives.
One guy they interviewed - in Spanish - and who lives on the border and knows the border said that no decent people would have allowed their child to "play" on the border by throwing rocks at the border agent.
This kid was trying along with his fellow gang thugs to kill the border agent and now his family have $$ in their eyes.
They forgot to say "he just enjoyed helping people" and "loved to make people laugh" - all standard fare whenever a young thug gets shot and the family wails and moans at the horror or losing their 'innocent baby'.
(Hmmm... where's that icon of a smiley barfing?)
The father states he just wants the Americans to do their job? They *WERE* doing their job when his son started making deadly assaults on them! How about Papa doing *his* job and paying attention to what his offspring are doing and warn of the danger involved?
Family of illegal alien shot dead on border sues US Government

A federal lawsuit filed Monday in Texas accuses the U.S. Border Patrol of wrongful death and civil rights violations in an agent's fatal shooting of a 15-year-old Mexican boy in June.
Sergio Adrian Hernandez Guereca was allegedly shot by a Border Patrol Agent on June 7 while they were in the process of arresting illegal immigrants crossing the Rio Grande.
