The Great Wall of China and the Berlin wall comes to mind also. They both served their purpose. Before I get jumped on in here about the Berlin wall I am not saying that it was right to separate East Berlin from West Berlin just that the wall worked for a long time.

Then I remember watching Reagan give his "Tear down this wall" speech in 1987.
A wall is a terrible idea for America. The country is not unified, so as soon as the wall is built 100 politicians would be trying to give their own "tear down this wall" speech.
The simple way to resolve it is to deny all rights. Take away the ability to work, attend school, go to a hospital or talk to police/fire department and you will find they leave. If cops check for legality 100% of the time they stop a person or a person files a police report and has them deported immediately after finding an illegal the problem is solved quickly.

Cheap, simple and effective.
That works fine for illegals coming here to seek work and benefits but those things aren't a deterrant to terrorist entry. They aren't seeking jobs and benefits. Therefore a physical barrier is necessary for that reason. It won't prevent all terrorist acts from occuring on our soil but why make it easier for them to get into our country?

But...but...that's politically incorrect and unconstitutional.
A wall would give them a reason to call the US Nazi's. And we don't want to be called names now do we? That would ruin are reputation.
