You all have no idea what your talking about. You think becoming a citizen is as simple as paying a fine and taking a test? There is simply no possible way to gain papers or even a green card if your already in America illegally. And what about those who didn't have an option? What about those whose only chance of SURVIVAL is to escape their countries. I can guarantee you many only came here because they feAred the safety of themselves and their family due to the crimes and gangs from where the derive. What about their children who had no option but to come with their parents? Should they bedeported also? And for what? What have they done wrong? Most of the children of illegals I know can speak English just as well as any American and have been raised and taugh by the traditions and cultures of the united stAtes. Should they not have the opportunity to be recognized as American citizens?
When come back bring facts.
The majority of illegals are Mexican. Mexico is not a poor nation. Mexico is the world's 12th largest economy. Mexico has a huge obesity problem. Mexico is home to the world's richest man. Mexico has national health care for their citizens. In short Mexico is a fairly functional country and Mexican nationals have ample opportunity for advancement there.
Americans have been remarkably generous to Mexican nationals. We've allowed millions to come here legally. What most of us do not want to do is allow ALL Mexicans no matter how low skilled to come here. We don't need them or want their overbreeding high school drop outs who can't be bothered to learn English. They are a huge burden on Americans. We certainly don't want their offspring. They have a nation. Let them go back to it.
As for literal economic suvival more than a billion people live on less than two dollars a day. Do you really think all of those people (most of them far more impoverished than the average illegal) should be allowed here?

Sixty percent of all illegals are Mexican nationals. Many of the rest are from Latin America. The majority of the people in question don't even have a high school diploma. Give them and their children American citizenship and you're largely affecting Mexicans and people from Central and South America. Why should Americans be forced to grant citizenship to Mexico's badly educated, non-English speaking underclass? All you'll do is provide incentives for yet more such people to come here.
You may find that fine and dandy. Many Americans do not.

We dont owe illegal aliens a thing.
What can you do for us: NOT what we can do for you.

I gave my comment quoting the context of your post, having a spouse and three stepchildren that are Mexican Nationals...

If they want to be recognized as American citizens, they should apply through our legal immigration process. If they do not qualify, they must accept our decision. After all, we are a sovereign nation, and have the right to determine who may or may not gain entry. They can’t expect to be treated as citizens when they don’t even have enough respect for our country to go through legal channels. If I break into your house, would you recognize me as a guest, or as a common criminal?
In reality, most illegals have no interest being recognized as American citizens. Their loyalties lie with their countries of origin. They simply want to be permitted to remain in this country without the fear of deportation, to avail themselves of our jobs, services, and benefits. Let’s keep it real.
Maybe not a poor nation, but a whole lot of poor people, don't try to make Mexico seem like Beverly Hills.
And, we also have lots of poor people. In fact, we have an estimated 44 million Americans living below the poverty line. Why are U.S. taxpayers obligated to support Mexico’s poor, especially, given that Mexico has a booming economy, and their middle class is growing by leaps and bounds, while our middle class is floundering. Heck, we should be sending some of our poor to them.

Well, since the poll is now closed I'll post my vote here...
